Who We Are
Our mission is to help adults improve their ability to read, write, perform basic math functions, and use computers, as well as to speak and comprehend the English language. The service is provided at no cost to students.
What We Do
Literacy Volunteers of Broome -Tioga Counties utilizes trained volunteers to provide free confidential educational services with a learner-centered approach that values and honors each individual student needs and goals. We help adults gain the skills needed to earn a high school equivalency diploma, transition to post-secondary education and career training, enter the workforce, retain a current job or move to a higher paying job, prepare for the U.S. citizenship test, help their children succeed in school, and help their families become more economically stable.
