 History: 

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Twin Tiers was founded in 1991 providing both Community-based and School-based mentoring programs. Over time, BBBS has expanded to serve a 5- county area including: Bradford, Sullivan, Tioga Counties, PA & Broome and Tioga Counties, NY. 

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Twin Tiers operates under the belief that inherent in every child is incredible potential. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Twin Tiers makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers “Bigs”, ages 18 and older with children “Littles”, ages 6 through young adulthood in our community (ages 6-14 at enrollment). We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

We ask volunteers and families for a one year minimum commitment to the program so that it gives the match relationship time to develop, grow and make a positive and lasting impact on the child.

Bigs meet with their Littles in the community and/or virtually on the average of 2 to 4 times a month sharing activities based on mutual interests. These activities may include cooking together, walks in the park, sports or arts and crafts, just to name a few!
