Volunteer: Volunteer Recruitment Team Member (Volunteer Services)

This position supports the Regional Volunteer Services department. Assists the implementation of the regional volunteer recruitment plan by performing volunteer recruitment activities to attract a skilled, talented and diverse volunteers workforce to service in all lines of business around the organization. 

 **This position is hybrid and can be done virtually as well as in person**

Southern Tier Chapter (12 Counties)

Key ResponsibilitiesAssists in the development and implementation of volunteer workforce recruitment activities.Recruits volunteers for all lines of service and departments.Meets with Volunteer Management team to determine targeted recruitment needs in the region.Proactively recruits new volunteers for general and specific volunteer opportunities.Recruits current volunteers for new opportunities and leadership positions.Researches outreach events and fairs. Reaches out to community groups to set up recruitment presentations.Plans and carries out recruitment events in communities served by the region, for both identified partner groups and open-call interest meetings.Promotes volunteer opportunities at community events.Advertises and markets for open-call events.QualificationsBroad understanding of the American Red Cross and its opportunities for volunteer service.Enthusiastic about Red Cross mission and programs.Recruiting experience OR the ability to effectively communicate Red Cross mission and activities in a manner that is both attractive and realistic.Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross  policies.Time Commitment

Volunteer: Disaster Action Team Specialist for Broome County (DAT)

This position supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services department. To serve on a Disaster Action Team as a worker (in-training) on a DAT response to provide 24-hour immediate support and assistance to individuals and families who have been impacted by a home fire or other local disaster.

Key Responsibilities  Works as part of an assigned team to respond to local disasters within established timelines defined in the Disaster Action Team Program Standards & Procedures. Commits to being available during assigned shifts in RC Respond, the DAT scheduling system, and communicating scheduling conflicts with DAT Leadership. Maintains regular communication with Duty Officer and other members of the team while assigned to an event to ensure continuity and safety. Provides care, comfort and compassion to clients (in accordance with Red Cross standards and procedures). Works with on-scene DAT leader to assess whether additional resources/support are required and communicates those needs to DAT Leadership Completes second responder confirmations in RC Care, the client case work system. Attends regularly scheduled team/DAT meetings as required by Chapter/Region. Maintains RC Care Intake Trainee user access.  Time Commitment

Able to respond reliably to local disasters when signed up for a shift. Able to follow Red Cross DAT and other related standards and procedures. Commitment to use RC Care and RC Respond systems as needed. Able to work in challenging and stressful conditions such as poor air quality, uneven ground, adverse weather, etc. Must be 18 years or older. Must have a valid driver's license and/or a timely, reliable way to get to a disaster scene. Able to take direction from leadership. Strong verbal communications skills Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
