Volunteer: Day of Caring - Winterizing Pat's Crafts!

For this project we are making sure all craft items (excluding the fish tank full of beads) are in containers with matching lids, getting rid of unusable items, and moving items to another side cabin. The items should have enough product to last a group of 20 or so kids in an activity if that makes sense. Please label and move the items to one cabin attached to Pat's Crafts as we need to remove everything from the main building to replace the flooring. This way our maintenance team can have assistance moving cabinets and shelves.

The Acorn trail is a popular trail stretching across our property that allows you to truly be immersed in nature and enjoy the scenery. The trail needs to be cleared of any sticks, overgrowth, or trash in the path. This can either be pulling things by hand, using shears, or rolling off the trail. Fletcher (Mostly back loading dock and the side of the building facing the lake) needs all of the vines from the walls, roof, and dock removed. They should be able to be pulled off easily, but trimming shears are available.

This includes sanitizing, dusting, cleaning out the fridge/freezer, putting items into sealed containers to make them mouse proof, sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows, and the dining room/lobby from the summer. This will be between 4 different units on camp. 2 of the buildings are wheelchair accessible, and 2 of the units are not.

Strong listening and effective communication skills with demonstrated success in working with a team. Successfully engages people living with dementia and has strong attention to detail. Ability to create and maintain a safe environment where participants’ thoughts and feelings are valued and group members are treated with fairness, equity and respect. Passionate about the Alzheimer’s Association mission with personal or professional experience with dementia preferred. Must be age 18 to apply. Background checks are required.

Alzheimer's Association Community Educators are volunteer public speakers who provide Alzheimer's Association education programs to community audiences. 

KEY ACTIVITIES:

Deliver presentations using prepared Alzheimer’s Association evidence-based consumer education programs on a variety of care and support topics. Collaborate with local Association staff to expand programs by securing community partners, scheduling presentations, delivering the programs, and managing technology needs. Serve as presenter for chapter-scheduled education programs and conferences. Connect people with additional Association services and volunteer opportunities by proactively making referrals to Alzheimer's Association programs & free 24/7 Helpline.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated success with health education using excellent communication, presentation and adult education skills. Excellent technology skills and comfort delivering programs independently. Ability to network, and collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners. Passionate about the Alzheimer’s Association mission with personal or professional experience with dementia preferred. Must be age 21 to apply. Background checks are required.

COMMITMENT EXPECTED:

Community Educators commit to delivering a target of 6-12 presentations annually. All program volunteers participate in initial training and ongoing education and must comply with Alzheimer’s Association volunteer policies and procedures. Terms are renewable upon successful completion of annual goal-setting conversation with your staff partner.

Faith in Action Volunteers Serving Seniors is seeking a grocery shopper to help increase food access for seniors. Rise is seeking a long-term volunteer who would be interested in providing childcare for the children residing in our domestic violence shelter.  The care would be provided for 1-2 hour durations while their parents attend counseling and other appointments.  Some hours would be regular while other times would be on an as needed basis.  The care would be provided at our building during the hours of 8am-4pm.

The volunteer would be subject to a criminal background check and statewide central register check.  The ideal candidate would have experience working with children and an understanding of child trauma.

The following is the monthly and annual duties to be performed:

Monthly:

Deposit boxers monthly fee and record the revenue in the journal 

(I usually I go to the bank on an average of 2 times a week)

Daily payments/deposits are recorded in the revenue journal by boxer 

 

Record the amounts in the journal entry journal keeping a running total of all deposits  Payroll is down once a month and is recorded in the payroll journal and then posted in the journal entry journal in total Write payroll checks to the individual coaches and deliver them to Conklin Road for distribution. Month end cash reconciliation and post interest earned for the month Prepare disbursements (other payroll) and prepare Purchase Orders and/or Expense Reports to show the detail of the expenditure.  On an average there are 4 to ten checks a month. Post the Revenue & Expenditures including Payroll to the General Ledger for the month. Maintain the depreciations schedules for all fixed assets. Prepare a monthly Trial Balance Prepare the monthly Financial Statements i.e. Balance Sheet, Statement of Income, Statement in Changes in Financial Position, along with Foot notes.  Distribute Financial Statements to the full Board of Directors with a short discussion of the results at the monthly Board Meeting Attend all Board of Director’s meetings.

 

Quarterly:

Prepare Federal & State payroll withholdings and the corresponding disbursements. Review Board Minutes for additional information required to meet the Presidents/BOD’s needs

Annually:

Reconcile all accounts within the General Ledger and make any adjustments as needed. Prepare all Federal & State Tax Returns: Federal 990 and the State Char500 Prepare W-2’s Review all Insurance Policies and see that they are in force for the up-coming year. Annual payroll filings Prepare a year-ending Journal with all the detail and analysis for the Board of Directors.
