Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) is a Department of Defense (DoD) military training opportunity that is a collaborative program that leverages military contributions and community resources to multiply value and cost savings for participants. Communities typically provide materials, volunteers & facilities, while military units contribute personnel and training resources. IRT missions produce mission ready forces, civil-military partnerships, and stronger communities.

We are looking for community member volunteers to assist at SUNY Broome. Each shift will require a team lead per station. If you are interested in becoming a team lead, please contact Maria at Mrodriguez@uwbroome.org.

Description: Early Morning Traffic Control & Relief. Guide traffic for check in, 7-9am, and then help with relief work: Provide volunteers with water and snacks, provide breaks to other volunteers; potential use of golf carts to easily access the campus. Assist wheelchair users if needed, lead clients to bathroom facilities.

Volunteer Information:

• Volunteers must be able to stand for long periods of time

• Closed Toe Shoes recommended. Weather appropriate clothing recommended.

• Tents will be available for outdoor volunteers

• Snacks and water available

• T-shirts to be provided

• Outdoor volunteers are encouraged to bring cooling devices and sunscreen


A volunteer training session will be held at SUNY Broome on Sunday, August 10th. Attendance to the volunteer training session is not strictly required but strongly encouraged to help the event run smoothly. More details to come!
